About Us
Advancing Hepatology through education and collaboration
The International Society for Clinical and Academic Hepatology (ISCAH) is a global, independent, non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing excellence in liver health through science, education, and clinical practice.
Our Vision

To reduce the global burden of liver disease by promoting evidence-based medicine, innovation, and collaboration across all regions of the world.

Our Story
The International Society for Clinical and Academic Hepatology (ISCAH) was founded following a pivotal research initiative focused on the prevalence of metabolic dysfunction–associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). During this research, one of the founding members identified a remarkably high prevalence of MAFLD in Georgia, highlighting an urgent need for broader scientific attention, structured collaboration, and academic engagement in hepatology.

These findings underscored significant gaps in awareness, research coordination, and academic exchange across regions. In response, ISCAH was established to serve as an international platform dedicated to advancing clinical and academic hepatology, with a strong emphasis on scientific collaboration and evidence-based practice.

From its foundation, ISCAH has aimed to connect clinicians, researchers, and academic institutions to facilitate high-quality scientific dialogue, promote collaborative research, and support professional development in hepatology.
